Progressive Era Wiki – Honors U.S. History I B

What is a Wiki?
A wiki is a website or similar online resource which allows users to add and edit content collectively. It can be visited and edited by anyone. “Wiki wiki” means "rapidly" in the Hawaiian language.

What am I supposed to do with a wiki?
You are all muckrakers of the Progressive Era. As members of the middle class, you have lived in the city and seen first hand the “ills” of American society that have resulted from both urbanization and industrialization. You will work collaboratively to create an informational website regarding the Progressive Era. After you've been assigned a particular area of reform, you will need to gather research based upon the following guidelines and post it to your own page (using the ones I've created for you). All of your primary information should be included on that page only.

Guidelines: The guidelines for your wiki are as follows
  1. Title: Give your wiki page a title and date
  2. Photographs: Provide at least FIVE actual photographs that are representative of your topic along with captions (Hines, Riis, etc.)
  3. Headline Article: Write an article relating to your assigned topic discussing the identified problem and the solution to that problem (the reform/reformer to address the problem)
  4. Presidential “Snapshot”: Write an article highlighting one of the progressive presidents (T. Roosevelt, Taft, or Wilson) and their major accomplishments relating to the progressive era. This article does not need to necessarily relate to your topic
  5. Connector: Write a separate response connecting your assigned topic to today (in the U.S. or the world)
  6. Presentation: Be prepared to share/present your wiki page with the rest of the class. Expect students to utilize your website to locate/identify information.
