prohibition is it a soluation or problem? before 1920 drinking was a problem. this was a problem because urbanashion caused people to have to fight for the last jobs and goods so they drank in exas to get away from the hard times at hand. this pushed the ratification of prohibition onward. by this law passing it also caused the upraising of organized crime such as boot legging and gang violance which lead to the 21 ammendment which ended prohibition.

28th president of the United States Woodrow Wilson in office from
March 4th, 1913 - March 4th, 1921
Wilson was the president that was in office when prohibition was applied
Because Prohibition began in Wilsons administration it is often assumed that he supported it. In fact Wilson vetoed the Volstead Act which enforced Prohibition and he opposed a federal law enforcing what he thought was a personal moral issue. However after the 18th Amendment passed and it became law he defended its enforcement. Wilson supported a middle position encouraging moderation rather than a full banning of alcoholic beverages.

Prohibition today

Many people believe that if prohibition where to happen today the same results would accure there would be an increased crime rate and the flow of illegal booze would be enormous just as it did during prohibition. so this really wasnt a soluation but more as a learning lesson. and the lession we lerned was moderation
